The Location is extraordinary: overlooking the Sabie River Valley, and beyond to God s Window and the Drakensberg, with the Kruger National Park and the panoramic Blyde River Canyon just around the corner.
The Windmill Wine Shop has an array of attractions from: tastings presented daily on Cape Wines, locally brewed beer from Hops Hollow Brewery and South African craft cheeses, a temperature controlled cellar housing the red wines, wineland products such as Estate Brandy, Grappa, olive & grape seed oils and verjuice, to Wine Cottage accommodation.
Enough assets already to make the Windmill Wine Shop & Cottages a compulsary stop, if you re travelling between Hazyview & Sabie, and definitely worth a detour even if you re not. But all this is just for starters. The next phase of Thomas & Jacqui Bohm s plans is guaranteed to put their shop and Cottages on the South African wine map. Home-grown-and-made Hazyview Wines and even a Mpumalanga Cap Classique.
Light lunches in the form of Tapas Platters can be enjoyed piled onto rustic wooden boards and eaten al fresco on the deck around Thomas s hand-made tables, or around the fire in the plum-coloured interior, while sipping a glass of wine or a pint of beer.
The three Wine Cottages are personally appointed with awesome views, from their private decks, over the Sabie River Valley. Each Cottage is en-suite with air-conditioning, cooling & heating, and a mini kitchenette with tea & coffee, cutlery & crockery, toaster, mini fridge and a braai (BBQ).

FacilitiesTHE WINE SHOP A Really Different Sort of Wine Shop offering an unusual wine-tasting-cum-eating experience. Tastings are presented daily on Cape Wines, until our maiden vintage, locally brewed beer and South African craft cheeses. To accompany our famous ‘Tapas Platters of cold cuts, local smoked trout, chicken liver pâté, Calamata olives, marinated mushrooms, cheeses & freshly bake breads is a completely different take on the conventional wine-by-the-glass order favoured by so many, with a selection of at least 10 South African wines to choose from; plus Cape Ports, Estate Brandies & Grappas to accompany the coffee grown and roasted on the farm next door. For the sweet tooth a selection of handmade ice-creams, ‘Gooey’ Chocolate Brownies and traditional Malva Pudding. Way out on the Wine Route we have planted South Africa’s most northerly Wine Vineyard, here in Big Five Country. So the Windmill Wine Shop will eventually include home-grown-and-made Hazyview Wines.
